Inside Sex in the City

We took the tour this morning -- 3 hours on a bus from uptown to downtown visiting places where the show was filmed. Cosmos and flirtinis at Aiden and Steve's bar, Scout. Carrie's stoop, the place Carrie was mugged, the cupcakes from Magnolia. The sex shop Pleasure Chest. All fun. Then to Canal Street for knockoff designer bags, watches and whatever. Walk through the Village and West Village, Union Square, lots of fun in the subways. Friendly people, art & excitement.

We're tired! Back a the hotel for dinner in the bar, TV and packing. Tomorrow we're off to the Staten Island Ferry, Vietnam Memorial and Ground Zero, then back to the hotel and on to the airport.

Hope you our enjoy day.

what a day!

we started up at 6 am this morning and at the today show by 8:30. we then traveled by bus over to the upper east side to the Neau Gallery where we saw a wonderful Klimt show. then it was back to NBC for a tour of the Rockefeller Center. after that we were pretty tired, we fueled up, spent some time in Anthropologie, then returned to the hotel to rest. we just got back now from hanging out in Times Square all night. it was crazy, the sights, smells, sounds, everything.

The Power of Positive Thinking

Outside Norman Vincent Peale's Marble Collegiate Church, ribbons tied to the railings wave in the wind. Yellow ribbons sending prayers for the soldiers who have died in Iraq. Prayers for their families. Blue ribbons for the Iraqis and their families who have died in Iraq. Green ribbons are for peace for the soldiers and their families and for us and for and Iraq. Prayer services are held every day.

Peale applied Christianity to everyday problems and is the person who is most responsible for bringing psychology into the professing Church, blending its principles into a message of "positive thinking." Peale said, "through prayer you ... make use of the great factor within yourself, the deep subconscious mind... the kingdom of God within you... Your unconscious mind has a power that turns wishes into realities when the wishes are strong enough." --From Peale's homepage http://normanvincentpeale.wwwhubs.com

Wish. Pray. Peace.

The top of things

We wound our way through and up to the top of the Empire State building at 9pm. Not too many people. Easily could have taken three hours if there had been crowds, based on all the velvet ropes and tensa barriers we passed. A flight to the top -- 84 floors above Manhattan at 10 floors per second. Strangely quiet. Snowing and windy. We stood outside over the lights. A blurry glimpse of the Statue of Liberty. And then the gift shop.

Museum of Sex

hey MoMA

a fabulous day looking at art. it was an amazing experience. when we asked a guard about where the Walker Evans photo featured in the gallery guide was, she responded "I SEEN DAT, I KNOW I SEEN DAT!" but in the end we could not locate it. the color show 'Color Chart: Reinventing Color, 1950 to Today' was INCREDIBLE. the show looks at artist' radical departure over the last fifty years, from tradition ideas about color. so inspiring!! now I want to go home and cut up colored squares and assort them on a grid.
